LENT

Ash Wednesday ushers in the 40 days of Lent when Jesus after his Baptism went out to the desert to discern God’s call on his life. It is a time when we can also reflect on our own lives to discern where God is calling us. Lent is more than a time of dismal fasting. It can also be a joyous season of feasting on the promises of God rather than our “usual diet” of negative thoughts that brings us down and keep us from living fuller or more whole lives the way God intended. For example, feeling hopeless – feast on HOPE, God has plans for you! Jeremiah 29:11; feeling afraid – feast on PEACE, God will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29; feeling weary – feast on GOD’S STRENGTH, Those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. Isaiah 40:29-31; feeling anxious – feast on TRUST, God to supply all your needs, Philippians 4:19. May God grant you a Holy and Blessed Lent.
